Often, differentials will not truncate the logs, as the archive bit is not
reset.

Subject: [exchangelist] log question re backups

http://www.MSExchange.org/

We use Arcserve 2000 Advanced Edition with the Exchange backup agent on an
Exchange 2K Server w/ all SP's. We do a full weekly backup with daily
differentials. This is a brick backup. My question is for anyone who may do
a similar backup.

After the full backup, the logs are deleted, as they should be, but on the
daily differential backup, they are not. I've gone over the Arcserve backup
logs, and the only "errors" are for those mailboxes Exchange couldn't
backup. These errors change daily (different people, different folders) Last
night there were 15 "failed to open store" errors out of the 1250 mailboxes
backed up. Is this what is causing the logs not to be deleted?

On a similar note, Is doing a brick backup the best choice, or should I just
do an Exchange backup, and skip the brick?

Thanks

-Doug
