Problems with sending mails out from a second Exch2k box

Hi all,
i have a slight problem here. I have two exchange servers in my
organisation. On the first server i can send and receive mail both to
internal receipients and to external recipients without any problem
On the second server, i have configured the IP address of the first server
to be a smart host to the second server, hence all mails going out of the
domain are meant to send mails out via the first server
on the second server i can send and receive mails to internal recipients
without any problem, but when i send mails to recipients outside the domain
i get an NDR #5.7.1 error, i have checked my configuration but cannot find
anything wrong
funny enough i can receive mails sent from the internet to this recipient
could anyone please help with this problem
