Exchange 200x requires an AD domain environment for installation. A server that is not a domain member has no such thing. So if you're going to do restores, you'll have to use something other than Exchange. Data Recovery outfits have tools that can read Exchange backups and restore messages or mailboxes without Exchange. Here's one: http://www.ontrack.com/email/ Carl -----Original Message----- From: Bret Hanson [mailto:Bhanson@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 02, 2005 2:02 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Offline Exchange Recovery Question http://www.MSExchange.org/ I am currently backing up our Exchange Server 2000 (on a 2000 domain) with Backup Exec 10 & the Exchange agent. I would like to do restores to a box that is not a domain member to recover individual items or mailboxes. I have Googled with no avail. Is this possible? Is there a white paper that explains the procedure?
