Exchange 5.5 can run server side rules. You create the rule from the client. The rule runs in the server. Some rules run either as client or server rule. Some rule can run only as client rule. -----Original Message----- From: Littlejohn, David [mailto:dlittlejohn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, July 12, 2002 3:58 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Automatically Forwarding Email http://www.MSExchange.org/ Are you saying this rule is run on the Exchange server? I know the client can run a rule, but I have Exchange 5.5 server and do not think it can run local rules. Maybe it can and I just can't find them? This will apply the rule to all messages old and new. Anything that goes to manager@xxxxxxxxxx is considered non-private information that anyone who is a manager should be able to see. My question is, is there anyway I can automatically forward the saved Emails to another mail account that is created at a later date? The reason for wanting to do this is that there is a high degree of turn over for a particular manager position. When I create an account for a new manager, username2@xxxxxxxxxx, I want that account to receive a copy of saved Emails from the manager@xxxxxxxxxx account without me having to log into it and forward them manually. The way I understand it, Exchange only forwards new messages as they are processed, and not looking backwards. I know the easy solution to this is to have the user's profile setup to open both their private account and the manager account, however employees at this particular company are too technically impaired to realize the need to read mail in both mailboxes.
