Hi Javier, Microsoft has several free webcasts that explain this in detail, linked off www.microsoft.com/exchange if you want to know the advantages and the disavnteges. Many Exchange admins ( Including myself ) do not like running brick level backups of Exchange mailbox's because of the additional time required ( It's very slow ). However with Exchange 2003, Microsoft has made it much easier to do a restore of an individual mailbox from a full information store (Database) backup. Is this sufficient to backup? or do i still have to do individual mailboxes/public folders? in case of a disaster can i use the information store backup to bring exchange backup and possibly extract individual mailboxes? My understanding of backing up the information store is that it is an "image" of the databases... can someone help to clarify?
