THE BAGRUT EXAM by Phyllis Oded It was the night before the ENGLISH BAGRUT EXAM and all through the nation not a 12th. grader was studying or waiting for a revelation. Yet I lay awake, tossing and turning in my bed with visions of ‘petrazillia’ running through my head. Inversions, relative clauses and connectors were just a few of these types of ‘structures’ I still wanted to review. How to write a letter, with the date on the right; how to do an unseen; how to spell ‘hieght’ [?] height. First brainstorm in a composition and revise only when you’re through. Will it all be remembered, or will a blackout ensue? When I finally fell asleep, it was early morning at best. Excited, but nervous, I arrived for the test. “English is a piece of cake!” I overheard it said by one. “Too many calories!” answered another, in fun. The pupils greeted me with smiles and I relaxed too. “Why are YOU so nervous, then?” you ask me. I’m their TEACHER, that’s who!! ************************************** ** Join ETNI on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/31737970668/ ** ETNI Blog and Poll http://ask-etni.blogspot.co.il/ ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org ** post to ETNI List - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** help - ask@xxxxxxxx ***************************************
