Just to add, the Italian word for butterfly is "farfalla", very similar to
the Hebrew "parpar".  And the "bow-tie" noodles are also *farfalla*, which
is probably how we got the Yiddish word* farfel*.
Hebrew owes the Italian *gelatti* its inspiration for the word "glidah", as
Yiddish owes the Italian *benedicite* its inspiration for the word
"benchen" and *divina* for the word "daven".
