You may love the HOTS or hate them, love the literature or hate it. But as
someone who has been in the field for a while, what I can tell you is that
until the program, MANY MANY English teachers were teaching textbooks and
unseens, and now ALL teachers are teaching literature.
Teachers who always loved and taught literature, are another issue, but
they were in the minority. But I get a LOT of positive feedback from
teachers who were scared to teach literature in the past, who felt that
they had not been trained to teach it properly. Now thanks to the program
and the course, have grown to love it - and I do not believe they are just
saying thatâ. If the program is lightened, in a way that does not kill it
off completely, then we will ALL benefit. But it is wiped off the map, we
will ALL be a lot poorer (especially our students). But change can't
happen unless there is communication. Sanctions and non-communication will
not solve anything.

My biggest problem with Ran Erez' instructions is that they are so
vague concerning the literature programs. What does it mean "stop
handling modules B, D, F"??? Does it mean stop teaching? Or maybe
teaching but not testing? Or testing but not posting ? It seems that
each school has interpreted it differently.
I wonder whether anyone has actually stopped teaching literature all
together.
