Dear Teachers,

 

“Shocking!” This is how pupils have described the annual Summer Debate 
Workshop. Shocking - how quickly their English improved. Shocking - how much 
fun they had. Shocking - how much more confident they have become. 

 

For over 10 years, Siach VeSig has been teaching Debate, the art of Public 
Speaking and Persuasion, to Israeli pupils. During those years, Israel has 
become one of the world’s most respected debating nations. Professionals from 
around the world come here to study our secrets. This year your pupils can 
learn these secrets too.

 

The workshop is organized by Sia’h va’Sig – the Israel Debating Society.  The 
training will be done by coaches from Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard 
Universities as well as Champion Israeli Debaters. 

 

This unique opportunity will give pupils a proven advantage at school, in the 
army, at work, in fact in any social situation.

 

What is debating?

Debating is the world’s most civilized method of persuasion. It is an 
intellectual sport where teams compete in rhetorical prowess. In debate you 
learn to argue convincingly and confidently and you learn to speak 
charismatically to an audience. You also learn to analyze issues and how to 
properly research ideas. 

 

What will you learn?

How does the course work?

Pupils work with instructors in small groups practicing skills so that they 
become second nature. All of the work, including the lectures and the exercises 
are performed in English.

Is it Fun?

You bet. Most of the pupils who participate not only keep coming back - they 
convince their friends to join as well. 

Will it improve their English?

Absolutely! The improvement in spoken English is dramatic, far beyond people’s 
expectations and you do not need to be a native English speaker to participate.

Ages: The Workshops are intended for students entering grades 9 through 12. No 
previous debating experience is necessary.

Language: The Workshop will be held in English and conducted by international 
coaches.  You do not have to be a native English speaker to participate in the 
Workshop.

             
           
        
Coaching: Instruction will be provided by experienced, prizewinning debate 
coaches from Israel, and from Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard.

Workshops will be held daily from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Breakfast and lunch are 
provided.
