Dear colleagues all over the country,
Unfortunately it seems as if the Irgun and the English ministry are not able to
come to an agreement about anything.
(I am not sure that they are  negotiating at all now).

This puts all of us in an invidious position. This year we were left with our
consciences about how to deal with our dual loyalties - yes, we do have
loyalties to the ministry as devoted and very hard working English teachers -
but we have loyalties to the Irgun too.

It doesn't look as if anything is being done at present to resolve the
situation which does not bode well for our work next year. Our 10th graders
have to be prepared for the literature module, projects should be resumed
PROPERLY (whoever tested this year will know what I am talking about) and
teachers have to take the literature hishtalmut.
Unless we take matters into our own hands, nothing will be resolved and we will
find ourselves in an impossible situation again next year. There are many
frustrated English teachers out there who would like to do their jobs properly.

Therefore, I would like to suggest a countrywide protest meeting one day during
the summer to which we will invite Judy Shteiner and Ran Erez - and we will
thrash out the problems until we reach a reasonable solution.(I hope I am not
being naive).
If we don't do this for ourselves no one else out there is going to do it for
us.

Is anyone prepared to take up the challenge so that we can have a better year
than this one? We are an amazing, talented, dynamic, creative public of
teachers. It's about time we put a stop to this situation. Teachers of other
subjects were able to achieve their demands when there were innovations in
their curriculae. Why can't we?
