Hi, WNC birders.
If you see or hear any Ceruleans between Craven Gap and the Weavervill exit
at Ox Creek Road (MP 375.6), I'd sure appreciate it if you'd let me know. I
did hear and record one on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail just north of Tanbark
Ridge Overlook, and there was a report of a second just north of there,
which could have been the same bird. I just don't have enough time to walk
the MTS south of Ox Creek very often, so there could be birds up there that
I don't know about. The MTS is not only beautiful but it's a great place to
bird, since the birds are more often near eye-level than on the road itself
and often are very close to the trail.
If you see or hear a Cerulean up there, or along the road in that stretch
of the Parkway, GPS coordinates would be great, but a good description of
the location would certainly do, including whether the bird was upslope or
downslope from the trail or road.
