Looks nice- good report ! Side note. I'm making progress as well. Almost have all the nails pulled from the roof steel to take the sheets off the chick barn and put them on the shop bld. And I started deconstructing the white enclosed trailer down to the frame for a full and total rebuild. Progess is good. Next time ..... The picture is the current Monte Configuration. The wheels and tires (from the Elky) look good on it. I installed all new long lug nuts on it today, that extend out far enough to clear the deep wheels. Now I can use a 4 way on them that resides in the trunk. The stock tire iron is too small for these. The rubber on the old wheels was not good enough for winter duty so my brother's son Zach swapped themn for me last Tuesday when they were up for a visit. I now have the perfect excuse to get new wheels and tiers on the El Camino in the Spring!!! The better half has approved this purchase... now if I can get her to pay for them <G> I cleaned off the wheels on both G-rides, and dressed all the rubber to make them look nice and black. I have decided I like the chrome Torque thrusts on the Elky. I have also decided that they will be 17" (I have always had 14" wheels on it). The anthracite center ones would look great on the Monte with the black car, and I like those a lot. (They are like the ones on my 72 Elky) I just think the chrome will look better with the brown and gold paint. I sealed up the sunroof by tightening the latch (that broke, and then I had to weld on it), and putting some conditioner on the seal. It was dripping only 2 or 3 drops of water on the carpet behind the console from a good rain. Wicking just a bit. I installed the Electric Choke kit (no pictures) on the Monte Carlo with a minimum of trouble today. FedEx Home from Summit Racing is one day to my house, and it was perfect timing today. I decided to convert it after I drove to Wheaton Sunday (25 minutes) and discovered that the manual choke was partially on all the way there. I can't rely on remembering this all the time, and don't want to waste gas, and foul the oil with gas. I have done this plenty of times on the short ride to work too. I finally got rid of the choke cable running through the firewall (hacked in there by the previous owner), keeping the grommet for the speedometer cable from sealing. Now there isn't an open hole in the firewall. I bundled the wires as clean as I could. It started right up, and kicked down as it should using the gas pedal. This is an Edelbrock 1405 manual choke model, now electric! It was a fun day off with the automobiles. 60* and cloudy today. Best day in a long time weather wise. Thank God my back is again good enough to play with the cars. JC --- John Christensen 1984 El Camino "Elkenstein" 350 TBI NECOA #042 http://www.myelcamino.net Saint Charles, IL
