Jean and anyone else using Word 2013, George Bell checked to see how this all worked in Word 2013 and found out that creating a new document with the BANA template is not like it is in earlier versions. Duxbury is now aware of this issue. Apparently Word 2013 doesn’t show custom templates by default. Check out the following link to see how to fix this. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/where-are-my-custom-templates-HA103478764.aspx Susan From: Susan [mailto:chrn3292@xxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, June 03, 2013 1:13 AM To: 'duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: RE: [duxuser] Re: Word template Jean, I don’t have Windows 8 or Word 2013, so I’m taking a stab here that things won’t be too far off from Word 2010 on earlier operating systems. DBT finishes the template installation when you first start DBT. It will ask you if you want to install the BANA template. Saying yes puts the template in the correct Word template folder. You should be able to use most of the same keystrokes you used in Word 2003. In fact, it’s easier to use the shortcut keystrokes than it is to figure out how to get to the templates from the ribbon. Based on Word 2010, Alt-T, I will bring up the “Templates and Add-ins” dialog. To create a new document with the BANA template, try Alt-F, N. From there it gets a little trickier, because Microsoft seems to change the next keystroke with every version of Word. In Word 2010, “My templates” (shortcut M, therefore Alt-F, N, M) is where the BANA template is located. Once you have the template attached, the toolbars will be on the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon, which is Alt then X, and then you need to know the assigned hotkey from there. Many of the shortcut keys for specific styles still work, but there are some conflicts. This is not as convenient as the toolbars in Word 2003. Setting up shortcut keystrokes for your most frequently used styles is the most efficient option. Hopefully the same keystrokes work in Word 2013 and this will get you started. I’m a Jaws user, not a mouse user. Under the Design tab and Style Sets, I don’t see anything that looks like a braille template. I have a lot to learn with this jump from Word 2003 to 2013. Perhaps I just don’t know how to work the style sets properly yet. There you will see many "templates" - they seem to be named "style sets". Hover your mouse over the first one for instructions. Is this any help? Perhaps my question should have been how to activate the Word template in Word 2013? I found it there. Hope this helps.
