Thank you so much everyone and especially Ann for your very detailed response. This is just so cool - I'm not great at asking for help but I've been reading thru some of the messages since I loaded duxbury on my pc & signed up for the 'support group'. This is truly a very useful forum and I am just so grateful for the quick assistance. I am going to try out all the tips tomorrow - it's also orientation day at the high school tomorrow with my charge - I am very nervous about all this but now just want to get started & get things going. The Romeo is not going to get me down! I'll let everyone know how things went.... ciao chow Lillian -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Rick Boggess Sent: 13 January 2008 06:18 PM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: Romeo problem 12.0 turns the sensor off and 12.1 turns it on. You should be facing the front when the keypad is at your right hand. It is a square hole, when I got mine, there was a piece of tape over it, so it never knew when it was out of paper. I soon figured out why they did that. I had to hold the paper down over that spot so it wouldn't think it was out of paper when ever a crease went over the sensor. I'm not sure where it's located on that machine. It should be on the left edge of the paper near the front of the machine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lillian Fortuin" <lillianf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2008 1:39 AM Subject: [duxuser] Re: Braille font display size Good day all My name's Lillian - and I'm not too sure how this works... I am a complete newbie to Duxbury & printing in braille. I've learnt braille since October last year & set myself the target to learn duxbury & the printing side of it starting January. I've taken on a challenge to be a facilitator for a 13yr old boy who will be starting high school this year in a main stream school. We're in Cape Town, South Africa. The embosser we have is a Romeo 25 model. We'd gotten a user manual off the internet but I'm probably tone deaf - and too used to peripherals that speak to you visually if something is wrong.. I just cannot figure out how to get started with this printer. There's a bit of tension between the family (my employers) and the previous facilitator & I'd prefer not to get in the middle of it if it means that I'd have to ask for her assistance. Would anyone be able to assist and advise me what I'm doing wrong? The Romeo is playing the tones for out of paper - even tho there's a full box of paper fed into it & on the floor in front of the printer. The printer is about hip high on a counter. I've read that it could also be that the cable is too long - it does have quite a long cable which is rolled up at the back of the printer. We'll be moving the equipment to the school in 2 days time when I'd be albe to set it up & test it again. I have tried to reset it to the factory settings as well - but I don't think that it helped as it just kept on playing the same out of paper tune. Could someone please advise?
