Douglas,

I'm not sure what's happening with your files as I just placed the [pv45] code
at the top of a new document, and it set the page value to 45.

Hi list. I'm working on an extended file embossing one section at a time. I
want to keep track of which pages I'm on when reading the file, so I need to
reset the page number sequence for each installment. By default, the first page
of any embossing job is numbered 1. Suppose my previous excerpt ended on page
44, and I want to begin the next with 45. I go to Layout, then Page Number,
and find the item "set page number for next page", not for current page. If I
type 45 as the number for the next page, the first page is still numbered 1,
and the following page is 45 or 46. I tried the [pv[ code, but that didn't
reset the first page; I guess it only resets the page within the document--in
the middle or something. I did try the code at the top, but the new number
appeared on the second page, while 1 appeared on the first. Is there a way to
reset the number for the first page of an excerpt from a long file, rather than
start each installment with 1? Thanks.

    Ed,

You can use the [pv] code to reset the page number. Place your cursor at
the point in the document where you want the page number to be reset and enter
the code [pv1]. You can do this as many times as you want within the document.

      Hello!

I wonder if anyone can help me.
Hope this is not an overly silly question!

Is it possible to reset the page numbering within a document, for example
so that each section always starts with 1?
I am thinking about appendices to reports etc. I've looked at the
helpfile to see if there are any codes that could be useful, but nothing jumps
out at me.
I suppose this is very easy if you split the document up, but there are a
lot of advantages to keeping everything in one document from a tracking point
of view.

      Thanks,
       Ed
