Ottawa Canada Dear Andrew and List: While ink jet printers are very cheap, if you do much printing your savings in hardware are rapidly burned up in the cost of replacement ink. Have a look at some of the duplex colour laser printers. The cost per page is lower than with an ink jet and the image is permanent and won’t smudge if your hands get sweaty or the document gets a drop of rain on it. Sounds like you do a steady volume of printing so you don’t need to worry about the jets clogging up from lack of use like mine did. Estimate your monthly volume and shop for an appropriate laser/. I find the big advantage of duplex printing is the reduction in bulk. A five-page duplex printed letter fits nicely in a #10 business-size envelope while ten pages printed single-sided need an oversize envelope like a #14 and as it is a non-standard size, you pay additional postage for the weight of the envelope.
