Aloha all,When I find that I have received a file that tends to have these incorrect <para.>s, I will use find and replace to replace all of the <para.> in the document with the {p} code. Then I can delete the unneeded one without losing the previous one that I am wanting to keep. It may seem odd but it works.

PeterThank you for the advice. I thought I had tried that and found it did not do what I wanted but having looked at it again it is definitely a simpler route with the current software.Thinking about possible improvements.1. It would be good do the operation without having to block any text, ie just from placing the cursor either at the end of the first paragraph or at the beginning of the second.) 2. My "natural" way of joining paragraphs in a word processing document would be to press delete at the beginning of the second paragraph. At the moment that method messes up the first paragraph's settings. Any change to allow this would be an improvement.Of the above I would see (1) as being the improvement which may be easier to implement.David ________________________________ From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Peter Sullivan Sent: Sat 16/12/2006 12:45 To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: <para.> David, Use Layout, Join Lines instead of Layout, Join Paragraphs. You should then get what you want in one step. - Peter -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Spybey Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2006 6:09 AM To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: <para.> George I was too hasty in saying "I can see that your solution will work" as I wrote it without actually trying it myself -- it clearly seemed reasonable!! However having followed what you have said, I am still finding a problem. The para. codes do go but they are replaced by a line break so the paragraphs are still not joined as the second one is on a new line. Agreed it is then possible to delete the line break and then add in the required space. However this does seem a bit of a sledgehammer to crack the proverbial nut! You only need to highlight a letter or two either side - between the two paragraphs you want to join. bla bla.</para.> <para.>Bla bla George. -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 15 December 2006 16:50 To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: <para.> George Thanks for the suggestion. I can see that your solution will work but it is a little awkward if the paragraphs concerned are long. This is particularly the case for braille users of DBT. If a simpler fix does not exist now then it would be appreciated as a future improvement. Highlight the end of the first and beginning of the second paragraph. Go to the Layout menu, Join Styles. Although in an ideal world (hint, hint, Peter) it would be nice to have an advanced user option to remove just one of a pair of tags. George. -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 15 December 2006 16:07 To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Re: <para.> Peter I wonder if you know of a way round the following problem. The codes <para.> and </para.> are linked. If one is deleted the other automatically deletes itself. This means that if you attempt to merge two paragraphs together by pressing [delete] [delete] [space] at the start of the second paragraph then both paragraphs loose their codes and the combined paragraph is no longer indented at its start.
