Well, I have a Morgan, too! I am sending her for two months training this
winter. She supposedly already knows how to drive, but I am not hitching her
until I have a pro on the job. Which I am not..
I have a 4 in hand which my husband and I hitched once. We thought it not
good when we saw two rumps and 4 eyes looking at us!
I usually drive my ponies singly, and one more than the others, not that I
play favorites, you understand! But singles are so easy, harness up and go,
and the pony harness is light. I have friends with Friesians and hoo boy,
need to be a weightlifter to hoist that leather on those big boys. My ponies
practically harness themselves. They are so cute. When we put the breast
colllar on, they duck their head and shut their eyes. I drive alone, but not
when no one is around. My hub is usually doing chores or having a nap, but
knows I'm out there. It's so different from riding in that way. Can't just
jump off and lead home, at least I haven't. I am constantly scrounging for
someone to come over and go with me.
How big are your new ponies? Two of mine are 11.2 and two are 12.3. Morgan
is 14.2 and my QH is 14.2 also...ALL mares and all bay except the QH. Where
did you get them? How did you find them? GO see them first? I am just
curious how someone in CA gets ponies from FL. I have a pair for sale, but
haven't marketed them aggressively. Hardly at all, really. But don't have
time to keep them all going, feel like the circus guy spinning the plates!
