Bev, this is great information – my friend Mavis will be thrilled to bits.
Hmmm, I wonder if this “son of the big house who was killed in a horse riding
accident” was indeed William Allan Wright? Or some combination of those
names......William Wright or William Allan or Allan Wright.........verrrry
interesting. Thanks for providing a date for Allan – born 1905 so his
biological father died around that time as well seeing as Hannah was already
pregnant with the twins.
Allan Hart or rather William Hart married Florence somebody..........would
that be in your records at all? They apparently only had the one child, Arthur
on 1st May 1936 so presumably married before then.
Thanks for looking into this for me (and for Mavis)

OK....looked at a few censuses. 1911, Hannah is working as a servant in the
Johnson household at 41 Valley Mount Harrogate Yorks. Robert is there also, so
not married when the census was taken, working as a sweeper for the Highway Dep
and living with his parents and siblings plus a couple of lodgers.
Her mother Isabella was already a widow by 1901 and in 1911 was taking care of
the five-year old grandson Allan, as you surmised. Allan was born at Ingleby
Cross, Yorkshire, where Isabella was also born, ca 1905/6. I suspect the birth
was registered as William Allan Wright Hart (Reg yr 1905; Reg Q 3; Reg dist
Stokesley Yorks; vol 9d; pge:671) as that birth looks closest for p.o.b and
d.o.b to what I learned from the census....but I could easily be wrong. Perhaps
all the additions to his name were intended to provide a clue to his father,
but one would need the birth cert to learn more.
Alas, I am having little success trawling the indexes for the birth of
Arthur....or a marriage for Allan. How sure are you of the d.o.b for Arthur?
Regards,
Bev
