One example of how sponsoring packages work. Bhavani Shankar was
studying in BMS college of engineering, Bangalore while I was working
in Bangalore. We have many students contributing to upstream projects
from that college. Madhusudan C.S, Santosh Vattam, Shantanu Jha to
name a few. See http://www.fosscommunity.in/wiki/Bangalore/BMSCE to
get an idea of how active we used be. We should see more COEP names in
these projects :)

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 20110118-1
of my package "mobile-broadband-provider-info".

It builds these binary packages:
mobile-broadband-provider-info - database of mobile broadband service providers

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mobile-broadband-provider-info
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mobile-broadband-provider-info/mobile-broadband-provider-info_20110118-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards

Uploaded.

Please forward http://bugs.debian.org/608966 upstream and mark it as forwarded.

Please also ask upstream to look at the 16 bugs and 5 patches in Ubuntu:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mobile-broadband-provider-info
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mobile-broadband-provider-info/+patches

Bonus points if you send upstream patches for each of them.

Please also audit the debtags for this package, most of them are incorrect:

You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your
rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as
they follow the rules: laws and constitution.
