[ddots-l] sonar looping question

I'm hoping someone can answer this strange thing that happens.
If you use the regular "normal template (16 midi and 8 audio), and you use
the loop explorer, you can preview them by using the control+shift+spacebar
key command. If you open the template with 4 audio tracks you cannot preview
the loops at all.
Can anyone shed light on why this is so?
Is it a template thing, just a Sonar weirdness or all of the above.
