Is CT for sonar 5 gonna be released any time soon?

Hi Paul. No, that's not quite what I am saying. I am saying that if you wish to use the free scripts along side CT then, its best to run the free scripts in one installation of Jaws and CT in another. Whither you choose to install Sonar 5 or not, won't break anything on your system as the Sonar 5 installation is separate from Sonar 4 and CT.

Of course, you could install Sonar 5, and try and work with it with CT for Sonar 4 and Jaws. However, as CT isn't yet scripted for Sonar 5, you will experience some issues, when trying to use Sonar 5 with CT. That's why I suggested the free scripts as you won't experience any navigation issues with them at all. That would be a workable solution until CT for Sonar 5 becomes available.

Hmm, thinking about it, installing Sonar 5 could bring about some benefits anyway even if you aren't using it as you would be able to explore some of the new softsynthes that ship with it, through CT and the Sonar 4 interface. Don't forget, if you are going to install Sonar 5 that there is a Sonar 5.1 update out now. You will find the Sonar 5.1 update on Cakewalks site. It's worth installing it as lots of bugs were fixed in that update.

Hi Phil,

If I understand you well, I'll have to install another version of jaws before attempting to install Sonar 5, in order to prevent it from starting ct4 when I start Sonar 5. I'm going to consider it. Maybe I should just make an image of my current system, and then try it. If it does go hay wire, then restore the image of a fresh windows and install Sonar 5 on its own so that it does not get in the way of anything. It's just that I don't want to risk blowing up my current configuration, so I think I'll stay on the safe side. Your information again is valuable. Thanks.

By the way, I just visited your website and it gave the feeling I more or less expected. The site is accessible, very very friendly and without bells and whistles, just like your answers here on the forums. Wonderful.

Regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul!!

Installing Sonar 5 wont corrupt your CT installation. Meaning that, if you install Sonar 5, CT and Sonar 4 will be fine as CT only modifies registry entries in Sonar 4's registry.

Regarding installing Victor's free scripts well, I would personally run them under a separate version of Jaws. That way, you can say use Jaws 6.2 with CT and Sonar 4 and Jaws 7 with the free scripts and Sonar 5. I would not attempt to use the free scripts and CT with the same version of Jaws as they both need access to the executable that is used in order to run Sonar. That's why, if you have Sonar 4 and 5 installed, CT will run when you open Sonar.

If you really must run the free scripts and CT with the same version of Jaws then, in order to run the free scripts, you would need to cut the CT scripts to a separate folder before using the free ones with Sonar 5 and vice versa. I wouldn't recommend that though.

Hi Gord,

I'm curious to take a look at Sonar 5, yet I have Sonar 4 and ct installed. If I installed Sonar 5 to investigate some of the new features, would that somehow corrupt the ct4 installation? I know ct4 has not been designed for Sonar 5 so I'm not expecting ct to work in Sonar 5 of course, but will the fact that ct is installed have any effect on Sonar 5? Can I install Victor Tsaran's free scripts for Sonar 5 next to the ones for Sonar 4 from Dancing Dots?

Paul.
