It won't kill you, but it darned sure will hurt. I found that out with
friends (adults) who were Shade Tree Mechanics, as a kid back in the days
when you could really work with cars if you were so inclined, by yourself,
lying on a piece of thrown away carpet in your driveway. These guys were
also Amateur Radio Operators, small aircraft Pilots, after WW II and Korea,
my heroes, and the folks my parents didn't want we kids to have any
interaction with because they openly drank and cursed... They were cool, my
first experience with Heinleinian self-sufficient characters, and they
showed me the difference between getting hit with AC, DC, high and low
amperage because they said as a human being it was to my benefit to
understand and know the difference on a real physical level. They were very
serious about it, as have I been working with tubes then transistors and
later chips. I can reassure you, you can really get hurt with how voltage
and high amperage, I've been there... (grin)

12 Volts really can't force enough amps through you unless maybe you are
swimming in salt water and really trying. Check out

clack!
Anyway, you should still be scared of all electricity.

Hey remember, you can handle lots of voltage, as in hundreds of thousands
from a Vandigraf Generator, but there's practically no amperage in that
static charge. However, you can get killed or severely injured by 12 volts
with enough amperage if you become part of the circuit.
