Thanks Mike. To be honest, i really dont get into sampling or editing with the
keyboard myself, but i was more curious as to how loading songs or midi files
works. i know you can only load one at a time, but i know in the motif you can
load several and then save it as an all song file. so the next time you go to
load those files all you have to do is load the all songs file. i wanted to
know if that can be done on the fantom.

I have the Fantom X6, and though I like the unit, it's really not that
accessible, even in trying to edit parameters and do your own sample creations;
so I can't imagine what a nightmare it would be to try and deal with the
sequencer. I tried to work with the editor that came with it, but no luck there
either. The controls aren't accessible, and I don't know if you could develop
hot spots for it, even with a sighted person helping you. One of the tech guys
I spoke with at Roland told me that even for a sighted person, the editor's a
pain in the rear-end because of the layout of it, etc.
Perhaps there's something out there that I don't know about that integrates
with Sonar. that'll work with the Fantom; if not, then you're pretty much in
the dark unless you've got somebody who's willing to be over your shoulder all
the time who can inturprit the screens properly for you. If you have partial
sight, then you'll probably be fine with it. As I said, I like the keyboard for
what it does, but since I've gotten into Sonar and Soft Synths, I've been
slowly moving away from using the Fantom as my main source of instrumentation.
I have a couple of Boss drum machines as well that I'm rarely using now; one
of which is the DR-880. It's a pretty neat box, but man it's a bear programming
it. I went so far as to try and build audio files describing the various menus
and functionality within the menus on that unit along with the Fantom, but it
turned out to be counterproductive.
