Hi folks.I'm interested in learning some of the basic hand strokes to get various sounds out of a djembe. My problem is that most DVD's on the subject, assume you can just see what's going on, so the teacher will say "you want to hit with this part of your hand, but not this part." That is of course not very helpful. *LOL*
So far I've figured out that you can get a good bassy thud by striking the center of the drum head with the flat palm, and a higher sound with more ring by striking off center with more of the fingers. There seem to be many other sounds one can get out of these things though.
Anybody want to have some fun on Skype?
