Hi Johan,

Regarding a midi track, as you know you can choose your midi keybord in the
insert colunn, this way you will record midi information to that track.

To listen something playing, that midi track must be root to a audio track,
that really could be a softh synth per example.

Thats why, when you choose a synt track Sonar will open a midi track plus a
audio track.

So, you play and record midi information with yur midi keyboard, getting sounds
of any softh synth library, using Sonar as the hoste!

best regards,
Rui

  David,

zo when I use softhsynths like dimension pro or cakewalk tts, than it's for
me recorded while playing a midicontroller like the a-800 pro from roland.
so the best choice than is to use synthesizertracks and miditracks?

  regards
  Johan

If you record a midi track, be aware that you can use a synthesizer, or a
midi keyboard. That doesn't matter but what is important is that you can hear
what you've done after you've recorded things.

    Hi,

I have so you know sonar and caketalking for sonar.
A midicontroller a-800 pro from Roland.
Now, I was today in keymusic shop in flanders and someone told me that when
you want to record a miditrack that you must select a synthesizertrack and not
a miditrack.

A miditrack should be for use when you have an external soundmodule.

is that trough or not trough?
