Well, I install both, unless the DXI should be slower.
it depends on how the softsynth it self or plug in is working best at.

But when I should choose between VST and DXi, which is better? Sonar supports both of them.

If you use windows, only worry about VSTI/VST/DXI/DX, if you use mac,
tdm/AU. If you use proTools (on either platform), then you want RTAS.
