Hello D!J!X!
Thanks for your advice! How do I check if my firewire chip is compatible
with my device?

Is that a firewire unit? If it is, check to be sure that your firewire chip
is compatible with it. Don't just say I have texas instruments so all is
well, there are still differences even within the texas instruments
offerings. This matters more nowadays, since allot of the firewire chipsets
are PCI chips made into PCI Express by the addition of a PCI to PCIE bridge;
this can cause issues with certain units.

If the unit is USB, be sure that you are not running it on a USB3 port, or
at least one from a third party like NEC, VIA or others, as those drivers
are usually horrible.

HTH, D!J!X!

Subject: [ddots-l] How to use Mackie Onyx 1640I

Hello list,
I have this audio device at my work a'nd it's up and running. My problem is
that I have just a little knowledge about how it works. I know that I can do
a lot of things with it for example in recording sessions like direct
monitoring but I don't know how to do this. I've been doing some google and
also been reading the manual, but I haven't really become more wise after
that.

Another issue I'm having with this device is pops and tics in my recordings.
I have done some testing with different latency values, but never really
solved my problem.

My system is Windows 7 64 with Sonar 8.5 and CT 8.8. I'm running the device
on ASIO drivers.

I hope someone with knowledge in this audio device can help me.

Regards, Erik Bryndahl
