To learn more than you may ever want to know about using SONAR:
From your desktop, select "CakeTalking for SONAR 4", type a letter t to open
the Tutorials folder and arrow down to the CakeTalking Tutorial for SONAR 4
document and press ENTER.
To review and change your MIDI settings:
Press ALT+O, and press ENTER
The input and output driver you prefer should be checked and appear at the
top of the list. If the ones you want do not appear at top of list, select
the option to move them to the top.
After you OK that, press ALT+O, and the letter O to select your default
audio options. Make sure that the play back and record masters are set for
your preferred M-Audio soundcard. See Lesson 32B. SELECTING AN AUDIO OUTPUT
PORT.
If you need to change your "normal" template or any other templates, see the
following:
LESSON 1. LOADING A PROJECT. THE OPEN DIALOG. THE NEW PROJECT DIALOG.
Particularly, 1B. The New Project Dialog.
LESSON 9. SAVING A PROJECT.
9B. Saving as a Different File Type.
In general, try to learn what you need to know as you need to know it but
also try to read the tutorial lessons in sequence to get some organized
knowledge about CakeTalking and SONAR.

When you choose your soundcard and other things that you want for every
project, save your settings in a template file under files of type.
Make sure that the template file is saved in the sample content folder, not
the cakewalk projects folder.

I just started useing sonar yesterday and was wondering if it is possible to
set defalts. Everytime i pick a track i have to pick my m audio sound card,
and my key board to be used. is there a quik easy way to set sonar to use my
sound card and keyboard everytime i turn it on.
Any other helpful hints about getting started would be welcomed, too.
