what you are probably doing is playing a microsoft midi synth and that synth will always have a delay, it is intended more as a midi sequence player not to play it live. if you connect an external midi device you won't have this problem. also you can use the cakewalk tts synth or other virtual synth and it will work much better.

i hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestions. I went online and downloaded the new drivers for the device. I then followed the instructions from the FAQ regarding running two soundcards. I found that when I rebooted Jaws was still speaking through the Audiophile. Remembering that the FAQ mentioned closing and restarting JFW I did so but then could get know sound until I rebooted. Once Windows came back up, Jaws once again spoke through the Audiophile. I can now get Midi to play through the Audiophile, though it has about a 75 Milisecond delay. Could this delay be due to still having Jaws through the Audiophile? Also, I am having problems getting input from the device.

Thanks again,
Ken

Hi, Ken,

Read the entry in our CakeTalking FAQ with the heading:
. Q: Is it possible to run JFW through my soundcard on my computer while
running my music through my external sound card?

You will find it at http://www.dancingdots.com/ctfaq.htm

Regards,
Bill

I just started using the Audiophile USB from MAudio, and so far it
hasn't been very cooperative. When I first open Sonar it says that there is

an issue with the drivers being either incompatible or in use by another
program. I chose to use the driver anyway and everything seems to work fine

for playing audio, but when it comes to midi the Audiophile USB is remaining

silent. I have added it to the (Midi Devices) and have chosen to use the
Audiophile as my output on the track. Any suggestions as to what might be
amiss?

Thanks,
Ken
