Despite 80% of the population in Singapore stay in units belonging to t=
he
Housing Development Board (HDB ), sprinkler provision is not imposed,
regardless to the height and total occupants in these housing blocks.
Currently i am preparing a project paper to justify the advantages and
benefits in imposing sprinkler provision to residential housing in
Singapore context. Hence i sincerely appreciate if anyone can provide m=
e
some information on fire tests ( the below mentioned ) or cases of dome=
stic
water contamination due to backflow.

I have been given some information about a fire test, which was carried=
out
by North Wales Fire Service in Wrexham on 10th April 2002. Two propert=
ies
were used one with sprinklers and the other without. A chip pan fire i=
n
the
kitchen was used for the tests and the fire was successfully extinguish=
ed
by
the sprinkler system within seconds of the sprinkler operating. I
understand that the fire service considered the tests to be a total
success.
