GOT 2 ACT Drama Group
The Sense GOT 2 ACT drama group was formed in the summer of 2014. Its members
are young Deafblind people from Cornwall, England who have a keen interest in
the performing arts. The group evolved following a series of drama therapy
workshops which explored imaginative and spontaneous abilities of the young
deafblind people. This was demonstrated through a wide range of techniques such
as improvisation, role play, mime, script work, movement, dance, props,
puppetry and voice.
Following these workshops the young people selected a topic to produce a short
piece of theatre work. The life and times of Deafblind activist Helen Keller
was converted into a 30 minute play and initially performed by the group in the
local area. Outstanding critical acclaim led to the production being performed
at the Deafblind International European conference in Belfast. Furthermore the
play took centre stage at the Deafblind International conference opening
ceremony in Romania. Future performances include festivals throughout Britain
and a performance of a new play at the famous Minack amphitheatre in Cornwall.
The young actors in the group have dedicated many, many hours of hard work
through their practice and performances. Indeed those who have witnessed the
group in action have compared their inspirational talents to that of Helen
Keller herself.
