Exactly how our folks who don’t have gas stoves supposed to boil the
water?! Going to build a fire in my weber outside hoping a tree doesn’t
fall on me. Oops just went back on! Boiling water now! Thanks!!

Morning everyone.
I am sure that most of you have noticed the low water pressure. I just got
this notice and a call from Ann Kitchen’s office. We are officially under
a boil water notice due to the low water pressure.
If any of you have seen a water main break please report to 311 as those
call are being given a different priority. Can report via the Austin 311
app as well if you have trouble getting through on the phone.
Also… Dittmar Rec warming center is at capacity, but I was just informed
that Palmer does have a separate area upstairs for families for anyone
that needs a warm spot. Again, Please call 512-305-4233 for more info on
warming centers.

On behalf of Austin Water Director Greg Meszaros, please see attached
memo regarding Austin Water Service Update:

Mayor and Council

Austin Water Service Update
Austin Water is issuing a Boil Water Notice to customers in southwest
Austin and Lost Creek today. The boil water notice is required because
water pressure dropped below minimum levels in the water distribution
system.
Austin Water’s treatment plants are functioning normally. Even so, water
use has far exceeded typical water usage and exceeded water production
by 250 percent over the past 24 hours. Water pressure and water storage
have significantly dropped throughout Austin Water’s service area in the
past day.
The combination of burst pipes at homes or businesses, Austin Water
system water main breaks, and increased customer demand from dripping
faucets or storing extra water are creating extraordinary high-water
demand. While the boil water notice is currently in one area, this is a
systemwide issue that demands action across the city. We are calling on
all Austin Water customers to take action to conserve water immediately.
To avoid additional impacts to water service, such as a citywide boil
water notice, impacts to fire protection, or widespread lack of water
service, Austin Water is immediately requiring mandatory conservation
measures. These concerns in our water distribution system could have a
citywide impact and are not limited to any certain Council district.
A copy of our press release is attached. Customers can contact Austin
Water at 512-972-1000 and can find updates at austinwater.org.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
