Hello,
Does anyone know where I might get some reliable statistics on the number o=
f tourists to Haiti annually through the Duvalier years? I have seen stati=
stics for the increase in tourism between 1949 (9,000) and 1956 (66,000) af=
ter the Magloire government's efforts to increase tourism.
I know that the conventional wisdom is that tourism dropped under Papa Doc,=
and then increased under Baby Doc. But I'm trying to understand how precip=
itously it dropped and if that's accurate.
Thanks so much,
Alyssa
