I considered doing that for a screwed up system of mine (later
installed Slackware via floppies+network). I asked around and the
couple people who knew anything about the converters said that they've
had problems with them. What kind of problems, I don't know. Desktop
not reading it, laptop drive being damaged, etc. In any case, they
wanted me to not go that route.
