Deborah-- According to Dr. Williamson and the IRB, we cannot do anything officially without IRB approval and we cannot get IRB approval without having gotten proposal acceptance, which in turn, cannot be gotten before we finish coursework. I would say the only way to do anything like a pilot study is if you don't plan on using it for your dissertation . . . the only thing I'm doing is having conversations--not interviews--wherein I'm telling people what I plan on doing and asking them if they would be willing to participate next year. But that's all. By the way, I've gotten only one affirmative, and that's if I don't profit from her interview financially.
