For those that don't know yet, the Linux kernel has a bug that will cause the system to lock up. There is a working exploit available that any user with shell access can run. I've tested it myself and it does work. http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/06/14/118209&mode=nested&tid=106&tid=126&tid=128&tid=185&tid=190 http://linuxreviews.org/news/2004-06-11_kernel_crash/index.html The article that discusses the exploit also links to a patch. The patch will only protect against that exploit code that's provided. Hopefully a real fix to the problem and a new kernel will be available shortly. dentonj -------------------------------------------------------------------- Cochise Linux Users Group Mailing List - cochiselinux@xxxxxxxxxxxxx For more information: http://www.cochiselinux.org To unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/cochiselinux
