[Civil Air Patrol] Strike while the iron is hot

Greetings again,
I noticed my previous message didn't go through, probably because I had Bryce's pix attached.  So it's included below without the pix.  Thanks Scott for the follow up on getting those out - I agree, they were very well done.

Since it didn't go through on the first try I'll use the opportunity to make a pitch for continuing the flight training in the near future.  The holidays are on us and offer just one illustration of how "life happens" and all too often interrupt training for a longer duration than might be expected.  833 is due for an annual/100hr here in the next 6 hrs or so.  So already we have holidays and maintenance as factors.  Combine that with Wx and scheduling and we've got a handful.

So please take this as encouragement to strike while the iron is hot and take advantage of the momentum of having started the training.  In that light, some of the check pilots that flew this weekend are going to be sparse due to the holdays and other reasons.  For sure, John has already said that he'll be gone for a couple of weeks.  We have sent out the wing pilot roster which contains a list of the check pilots.  Let me also encourage the use of other check pilots that are available.  In addition to the factors above, here is a continued list of reasons that favor flying sooner rather than later:

-You'll be flying with the other pilots sooner or later as the wing commander wants us flying with different check pilots every year - may as well get to know them.

- Also on the topic of getting to know them, and I cast no aspersions when talking about this - it's merely a matter of human nature.  When it comes to flying at SARXs or any other mission, the more people you know, the higher the odds that they'll think of you.

-You'll find that you fly with a lot of different people at SARXs.  The more people you've flown with previously, the more comfortable you'll be on missions, practice or otherwise.

Thanks for your consideration and thanks again for your participation this weekend.

Dan

Greetings,
One more big thanks to all that helped put the clinic together - John, Scott, Bob, Skip, and all the pilots.  Really turned out well.  No problems with weather and we put a total of 13.9 hrs on 833, averaging almost 1.3 hrs/flight.
FYI the propeller seal leak will be taken care of at the next 100hr/annual which is only about 6 more hours away.

Hope all found it to be a beneficial experience and that it helped pave the way to finish with the required HP time for some form5 checkouts.  It was probably a lot to take in, especially regarding paperwork.  If you need any help from here forward feel free to drop a line or call.  I didn't ask Scott, but I assume we can continue to use the listserve.  If so, and if you're willing, let's use it as a forum for questions/answers.  If you have a question there will likely be someone else with the same question.  And feel free to answer a question if you see one you want to tackle.

Bryce took some great pictures during his flight this morning which I have attached.  If anyone else took any, please send a copy my way.  Thanks Bryce.

Have a great holiday.

Cheers,
Dan
