The resident pair of Red-shouldered Hawks at the American Way/Greenbelt site in
Kingsport are cycling up for another nesting season. This morning they were
perched together at the edge of the greenbelt parking area in one of their
favorite early morning sunning spots. We haven't located the nest for this
year yet, but they should be well on their way to another successful year by
now. When the left their perch this morning they flew to the west towards last
years nest site. Bill Grigsby and I have both also observed them farther east
than last year. I placed a short video clip (4.4 mb) on my charter site for
downloading and viewing. I shot this through a spotting scope coupled to a
video camera, the magnification is extreme. There was also a lot of heat waves
rising off the parking lot between me and the birds. In other words...it's
pretty blurry, but still gives you an idea of what you might have seen this
morning. Best to right click the mpg file and choose "save as" to download it.
Then watch it with Windows Media Player. When I click the link my Quicktime
plays it and does distorts it somehow.

The link is webpages.charter.net/mtnsunfish/video...the file is redshouldered
01.mpg
