Area Birders, Yesterday, Feb 7, fellow Buchanan County Bird Club member, Richard Kretz, and I (Roger Mayhorn) went back to the park in St Paul, where on Jan 30, Richard had found a Ross's Goose. We again found the goose in the company of Canadas, Mallards, Coots and domestic ducks and geese. Richard had commented on the lack of fear the goose had of people, but I was still surprised that we could approach within 8 or 10 feet of the bird. This bird is much smaller than the Ross's found last week-end at the old Richlands aiport, the bird there being closer in size to a Snow Goose. Richard and I took several photos. They can be viewed at the following sites: http://www.pbase.com/rkretz/recent_photos&page=3 http://www.pbase.com/mayhorn/waterfowl We also picked up 23 species of birds along the way. Following is the list.
