April 12, 2008 - Rob Biller Ventured out in the chilly weather this morning, but was not disappointed. Stops were made at Watauga Point and up to where the pavement ends at the upper entrance to Pond Mountain. Watauga Point (Cater County) - moderate wind Yellow-throated Warbler 1 Black-throated Green Warbler (couple singing) Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (building nest) Goldfinches - many Chipping Sparrows Dark-eyed Junco Pond Mountain (wind shielded) Ovenbird Ruffed Grouse Black and White Warbler (many) Black-throated Green Warbler (few) Hairy Woodpecker Blue-headed Vireo (many) Pileated Woodpecker (near what looks to be a nest cavity) Dark-eyed Junco Ruby-crowned Kinglet (singing) Chickadees Titmouses Along US 321 / S.R. 67 Broad-winged Hawk (perched in tree - then took flight while I was watching) Watching Chimney Swifts fly outside my window while typing this on the edge of downtown Elizabethton.
