April 12, 2008 - Rob Biller

Ventured out in the chilly weather this morning, but was not disappointed.
Stops were made at Watauga Point and up to where the pavement ends at the
upper entrance to Pond Mountain.

Watauga Point (Cater County) - moderate wind

Yellow-throated Warbler 1
Black-throated Green Warbler (couple singing)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (building nest)
Goldfinches - many
Chipping Sparrows
Dark-eyed Junco

Pond Mountain (wind shielded)

Ovenbird
Ruffed Grouse
Black and White Warbler (many)
Black-throated Green Warbler (few)
Hairy Woodpecker
Blue-headed Vireo (many)
Pileated Woodpecker (near what looks to be a nest cavity)
Dark-eyed Junco
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (singing)
Chickadees
Titmouses

Along US 321 / S.R. 67

Broad-winged Hawk (perched in tree - then took flight while I was watching)

Watching Chimney Swifts fly outside my window while typing this on the edge
of downtown Elizabethton.
