Administrative Lieutenant Terry Napier of the Bristol Tennessee Police
Department
is being named today as the interim director of the Bristol Tennessee
Department of
Leisure Services. He fills a position created by the April 18 resignation of
the director.
Bristol Bird Club has a long term relationship with the Steele Creek Park Nature
Center and Steele Creek Park which are facilities and programs operated by
Leisure
Services.
A source close to the city report that City Manager Jeff Broughton
has an extensive interest in the city parks, particularly Steele Creek and the
park's
nature center. Broughton will attend a Monday, May 7, annual meeting of the
Friends of Steele Creek Park Nature Center which will be held at the Park Lodge
at 5:30 p.m.
He is expected to announce goals for 2008. The city is planning a $162,000
budget increase
for the department which, among other things, will include funds for
architectural design
for a major renovation and an extensive addition to the current nature center
building.
Let's go birding.....
