[Bristol-Birds] Battle

My wife & I have been watching something of a battle between a pair of 
tree swallows and a pair of chickadees over a bluebird house my wife 
recently set up.  Can't tell yet who is winning.  Experienced birders, 
is this sort of thing common?  Any suggestions for us?  Thanks!
