The Virginia Highlands Festival hits full stride Saturday, July 31, with a
two-week run of exciting events in and around Abingdon, Va. Here are two of
this weekend's birding events:
Creeper Trail Bird Walk (7:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31) Bristol Bird Club
member Wallace Coffey leads this leisurely bird identification walk on the
Virginia Creeper Trail. This is the festival's most popular and longest-running
outdoors event ! Plan to walk about just under a mile and bring binoculars.
Meet at the locomotive at the trailhead.

The Virginia Highlands Festival Event Explore One of Virginia's Birding and
Wildlife Trails (8-10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1) To begin the hike, meet Roger
Mayhorn of the Russell County Birding Club and Larry McDaniel of the Bristol
Bird Club at the Raven Ridge Campground (take Route 80 North of Abingdon to the
top of Clinch Mountain).
