* EAST ATLANTA BEER FESTIVAL
Tickets for the 6th Annual East Atlanta Beer Festival are now on sale at

April 29th, the price of a ticket goes to $30. What: 6th Annual East Atlanta 
Beer Festival; Where:1205 Metropolitan Avenue, East Atlanta Village; When:

* MORE AWARDS FOR ATLANTA BREWING CO.
Atlanta Brewing Company, makers of Red Brick Beers, recently claimed five 
medals and Best of Show at The Hickory Hops Festival, a beer competition that 
evaluates beers from around the Southeastern US and recognizes the most 
outstanding beers being produced in the region today. The CCB is the only 
certified competition in the South.  Atlanta Brewing Company competed among 40 
microbreweries and was awarded a Gold for its Bogart Ale in the Special Bitter 
or Best Bitter category. Bogart Ale was also named Best of Show, topping all 
other entries. Bogart Ale was developed in partnership with the Mellow Mushroom 
pizza chain and is currently available only at their stores. 


* OWEN'S CRAFT BEER WEEK BEER DINNER - MAY 12
Trust me, if you love great beer, you will NOT miss our classic Athens, GA beer 
dinner in celebration of American Craft Beer Week. The event will be hosted by 
Owen Ogletree and will include delicious food courses and five of the best US 
craft beers available. Beers will include a rare cask of Terrapin's new 90 
Shelling Scotch Ale on dark oak, and extra special offerings from Stone, 
Bell's, Sweetwater and Dogfish Head! Four passes to the coveted 2009 Atlanta 
Cask Ale Tasting will be given away, and all attendees get a free Terrapin pint 
glass, free admission to Terrapin Tuesday Bluegrass after the dinner, and Craft 
Beer Week literature. All this for only $45 +tax/tip. Seats are very limited 
and will go on sale soon at http://www.meltingpointathens.com. The event takes 
place May 12, 6:30 PM at the marvelous Melting Point/Foundry Park Inn in 
downtown Athens.


* BREWERS ASSN. 2009 ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Three members of the brewing community were recognized with awards for their 
service to the industry at the opening session of the Brewers Association's 
annual Craft Brewers Conference in Boston.  The Brewers Association Recognition 
Award went to Ken Allen, founder of Anderson Valley Brewing Co. in Boonville, 
CA and former chair of the Association of Brewers.  Steve Parkes of the 
American Brewers Guild received this year's Russell Schehrer Award for 
Innovation in Brewing for demonstrating creativity, excellence in brewing and 
substantial contributions to the craft brewing community.  The Brewers 
Association presented the F.X. Matt Defense of the Industry Award to Eric 
Wallace of Lefthand Brewing Co., in Longmont, CO. Eric led the charge to 
successfully preserve beer drinker choice and selection in helping defeat 
damaging legislation in Colorado.
