Grade 3 is sort of like Grade 2 plus. It uses the same principles of contractions, but there are a great deal more of them. It removes some letters to keep words shorter; for instance, you leave out vowels where the word is still clear without them and where a contraction would not be shorter. It also replaces numbers with symbols. A number sign followed by dot 1 is a 1, as in grade 2, but a number sign followed by k is 11, by t is 20, by 2-4-6 is 39, and so forth. Here's a link to a complete Grade 3 guide:

Grade three braille is like grade two, but a short hand for it. That is all I really know, I have not seen it either.

The only way is to write it into a Keyword braille or BRF file,
then never translate it or try to read it with speech. Not good
for moving between the bn and any other non-braille devices, but
good for, as you said, writing very quickly.

Hi--

I am beginning to learn grade 3 Braille, as I think it will help
me type notes for high school, and then college, more
efficiently. I've never come across an option for this, but is
it possible to type in grade 3 Braille on the Apex? I don't want
my entire keyboard in this code but am trying to switch it over
in KWB documents, like you do with computer Braille. Or, would
the best way to practice just be to type grade 3 into a grade 2
file (I know this won't translate well in print, but I will know
what it means)?

Also, I recently signed up for NFB Newsline. I see an option on
their site to e-mail an entire publication or a section of one to
yourself as an attachment. Does this come through as a Daisy
text only, or is there a way to get an HTML edition e-mailed to
you?
Thanks,
