Hi Rick. There are a couple of unzip programs that can already do what you're describing to some extent. The unzip program that comes with Windows is very basic, like a plastic spork you get at a fast food restaurant. It does its job but isn't very elegant about it. When you want to eat real food , it's time to move up to real silverware that can actually help you eat with comfort and class. Unlike silverware, good zip management software is available for free. (smile) I know that Iceows will let you right click on a zipped file and choose an option called "convert to folder." It extracts the files into a folder with the same name as the zip file and then deletes the zipped file itself. So if your zipped file was called Little_Women.zip your folder would be called Little_Women and would have your book files in side. This is perfect for transferring to a device like a notetaker or the Stream where it likes to have each book in its own folder. Well, it will be once Humanware releases their update for the new daisy files. For now it works with the brf files. Iceows is a free program and is available at http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/ICEOWS/1058210826/1 Monica Willyard "The best way to predict the future is to create it." -- Peter Drucker -----Original Message----- From: Rick Roderick [mailto:rickrod@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2009 10:14 AM To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookshare-discuss] new tools? Hello everyone, I just had a brainstorm, but I don't know if it makes any sense. Many ofus like the interface of the old Unpack tool. Things could simply be done in few steps. Could Bookshare design an unzip tool with a similar interface. That is, it would allow one to rename the book and delete the zipped copy while in the program. Also, for the Braillenote: There is a menu choice called Run Program. I think this is only used at present for updating the unit. However, I am wondering if an Unzip tool could be written that would take advantage of this functionality. For the Pac Mate, since it runs programs that aren't produced by FS, are there Unzip utilities that work on it? I don't know if any of these ideas make any sense, but I am interested in comments.
