Me too I have always been sent to the Volunteer page.
And it has the search box at the top, so never really was bothered by it.

I signed up to be a bookshare volunteer a few months ago. I was bounced
to the volunteer page any time I loged in after that. I found this
extremely annoying.
I am so glad that has been changed. It is wonderful not to end up on the
volunteer page every time I log in when all I want to do is see if we have
a book title or download a book.
