Pratik _____ From: Patti Johnson [mailto:razz@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, January 21, 2007 12:31 AM To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookshare-discuss] My Message I had not seen my message that I sent earlier today come on the list, so I am going to ask my question again, and so if this is a repeat, you all can delete right now. I helped a friend sign up for Bookshare, probably close to two months ago now. I think I filled out the online registration forms the beginning of December, not sure, maybe even earlier than that but maybe not. Anyway, she got the form back saying the information was incorrect on it and that there was no record of her being a library user from NLS. This was how we were going to have her approved for Bookshare, proof that she was a NLS user. She forwarded the letter she got from Bookshare to me. Her name was spelled totally wrong, on the form. Fearing it was my fault, because I was the one to fill in the information, I sent a note to Bookshare, explaining the problem and sending them the correct information. She got a note back telling her that once her NLS proof was received she would get approval notice and send in her payment. That was before Christmas, and she hasn't heard any more. Should we write to them again, to find out what the delay is, should we wait; is there some one we can actually talk to, and if so, how do we go about doing that? What would you all do, just give it more time? She is an avid reader and is always saying she wants more books and I've been trying to get her to sign up for Bookshare for a very long time; now that she has she's anxious to get started with it. I just wonder if there is a lot of sign ups and there is a long waiting period because of that. Just curious about it all and wanting to help my friend. Has any one else had to wait quite a while for their approval? Thanks for any help, and again my apologies if this is a repeat. Patti I give thanks to God for all the good in my life, I do not blame Him for the bad.
